Speaker of the House Prospero Nograles let slip an irresponsible and highly insensitive statement yesterday when he said:

“In the end, it is still Congress that will decide the fate of the Constitution. Only senators and congressmen are empowered to initiate changes in the Charter and no amount of protest rallies can decide whether the Constitution [...]

This morning, a TV news program reminded the public that the continuing registration of voters for the 2010 presidential elections begins Tuesday (December 2).
The listing will run until December 15, 2009 in all areas nationwide, except for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
Folks, that’s a time period of more than a year for registration. [...]
